Integrated Solution Comprises Mitel UC Portfolio and Vidyo Platform on VMware Virtual Machines and Delivers Unprecedented Value to SMBs

Hackensack, NJ – June 20, 2012Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced a partnership with Mitel, a global provider of business communications and collaboration software and services. The companies will deliver a comprehensive integration of Vidyo’s leading HD, multipoint video communications solution for desktop, mobile, room communications with Mitel’s industry leading Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) offering.  The integrated solution will be demonstrated at Mitel’s Business Partner Conference (registration link removed), from June 19 – 21, in San Diego, at Mitel’s Booth # 412 and Vidyo’s Booth # 232.

“According to research conducted by VMware and Canalys, SMB adoption of virtualized solutions is expected to increase two-fold by 2014, positioning Mitel and Vidyo well in the market as we will deliver rich integrated applications on a common virtualization framework,” said Ashish Gupta, Vidyo’s CMO and SVP Corporate Development. “The virtualized Mitel-Vidyo offering will give SMBs unprecedented choice, delivering unmatched quality, reach and savings to customers looking to deploy on-demand unified communications and visual collaboration solutions on their desktops, mobile devices and conference rooms at a fraction of the cost of legacy video conferencing solutions.”

The SMB segment has been underserved by traditional video conferencing solutions that require proprietary hardware and are restricted by the MCU-based architecture.  These legacy solutions are typically too costly for SMB budgets and are challenging to deploy and maintain. Vidyo’s industry-leading architecture has disrupted the market to deliver a high quality, highly scalable solution that provides seamless interoperability with legacy solutions. The integrated solution from Mitel and Vidyo will provide SMB customers with a UC-aware personal telepresence solution that is both economically and technologically well-suited for this market’s needs.

“Delivering high-definition video conferencing that can provide an integrated collaboration experience with Mitel’s UC solution is a priority for our partners and customers looking to increase collaboration and efficiency,” said Stephen Beamish, Mitel Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. “Vidyo delivers a virtualized video solution that meshes perfectly with our vision of an integrated UC platform and, when combined with Mitel UC, will provide our customers with the freedom to select high quality video applications without traditional limitations.”

Mitel is a leading provider of Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) software solutions. Mitel’s Freedom architecture provides the flexibility and simplicity organizations need to support today’s dynamic work environment. Through a single cloud-ready software stream, Mitel delivers a powerful suite of advanced communications and collaboration capabilities that provides freedom from walled garden architectures and enables organizations to implement best-of-breed solutions on any network; extends the “in-office” experience anywhere, on any device; and offers choice of commercial options to fit business needs.

The Vidyo Difference

The Vidyo communication and collaboration platform is software-based, highly flexible and can be easily customized for individual enterprise and vertical market video conferencing needs. The patented VidyoRouter™ architecture employs Adaptive Video Layering™, which dynamically optimizes the video for each endpoint leveraging H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC)-based compression technology and Vidyo’s IP. Adaptive Video Layering eliminates the MCU and offers unprecedented error resiliency, low latency rate and resolution-matching that enables natural, affordable, high-quality video to work over the Internet, LTE and 4G networks. The platform allows users to quickly leverage the latest hardware innovations and new consumer devices, making it uniquely attractive to partners. Vidyo has been active driving H.264 SVC and SIP videoconferencing interoperability in various standards bodies since 2005.  Vidyo platform partners include Ricoh, Google, Hitachi, Teliris and Intel.
